Meet the Outlaws... "It's our job to be a mess!"
JASON OUTLAW - POTTERY, SCULPTOR AND CERAMIC ARTIST
Jason fell in love with clay during high school where he took pottery classes for three years. An opportunity to attend the Disney Culinary Academy on a work study program routed his career toward the culinary arts. In his 16 years of cooking, Chef Jason Outlaw honed not only his culinary talents but his visual arts skills as well. Working as an executive chef in the vibrant world of four-star restaurnats in Florida inspired him to delve into the art of ice and food sculpture. After one too many hurricanes, Jason moved to the Catawba Valley of NC to be near his Carolina family and to start a second career as a potter. He is inspired by nature and incorporates sculpted lizards, frogs, fish, turtles and snakes with his wheel thrown pottery.
ROSALIE DE FINI OUTLAW - POTTER, CERAMIC ARTIST, WRITER, PHOTOGRAPHER AND BELLY DANCER
Rosalie threw her first pots on a little table-top battery-operated pottery wheel that she received as a gift from her mother when she was in elementary school. A college pottery class enabled her to get her hands dirty again, but it wasn't until she met Jason that she was seriously bitten by the pottery bug. She took classes from Gary Lee in Lincolnton, and learned additional techniques from a large number of potter friends.
The Outlaws teach pottery because it was a calling. They enjoy helping their students discover their inner clay artists and are passionate about sharing the art of pottery with their community.
